Sabiha Gökçen Airport to the city centre: metro, Havabus, bus and private transfer
Sabiha Gökçen is on the Asian side, 40 km from Kadıköy, 12 km from Pendik and 50 km from Taksim. Depending on where you are staying, the metro, Havabus, a city bus or a private transfer can make the most sense.
Overview
- Metro (M4): airport to Kadıköy; for the European side you change to Marmaray at Ayrılık Çeşmesi.
- Havabus: shuttle between the airport and Taksim and Kadıköy (the Kadıköy line runs via Yenisahra).
- İETT buses: lines such as SG-1 (Kadıköy), SG-2 (Taksim), E-3 (4. Levent Metro) and E-10 (Kadıköy–Kurtköy).
- Private transfer: door to door with a driver holding a name board on the arrivals level.
Metro: M4 and Marmaray
The M4 Kadıköy–Sabiha Gökçen Airport line links the airport with the Asian side. The ride to Kadıköy takes about 52 minutes. For the European side you change to Marmaray at Ayrılık Çeşmesi; for Taksim you change again to the M2 at Yenikapı. Including transfers and walking inside stations, the total can reach up to 1.5 hours. For Sultanahmet you can get off Marmaray at Sirkeci and continue by tram.
Regular operating hours are 06:00–00:00 on weekdays and Sundays.
Havabus
Havabus coaches park in front of the terminal exits on the arrivals level. The Taksim line departs from the Gezi Park metro exit in Taksim and takes about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic; its last stop is the Divan Hotel. The Kadıköy line departs from the Kadıköy Rıhtım İETT bus stops, takes about 60 minutes and runs via Yenisahra; its last stop is the pier in Kadıköy.
İETT city buses
İETT lines serving the airport include SG-1 (Kadıköy), SG-2 (Taksim), E-3 (4. Levent Metro) and E-10 (Kadıköy–Kurtköy). Check the İETT line pages for departure times; E-10 appears on İETT's list of night lines.
Private transfer
With luggage, children or a late arrival you may prefer to go without changes. After you collect your bags, your driver waits in the meeting area on the arrivals level holding a board with your name. The driver's name and phone number are e-mailed to you once a driver is assigned and also appear on your booking page. If you give us your flight number, the carrier tracks the flight and the pickup time shifts to your actual landing time at no extra charge. Waiting time is 60 minutes as standard (the time stated in your offer applies). More on the Sabiha Gökçen airport page; for Kadıköy see also our Kadıköy guide.

If you land late at night
The metro normally stops at 00:00; on Friday and Saturday nights the M4 also runs under the night metro scheme between 00:30 and 05:30. According to Havabus's own site there are services for delayed planes between 01:00 and 04:00. E-10 is on İETT's list of night lines. Since this depends on the day and the hour, check current times before you set off. If you would rather not change, a private transfer only needs your flight number: the driver is scheduled around your landing time.
